Propósitos para el nuevo año - New Year Resolutions

Estos últimos días estaba leyendo algunos de los blogs que sigo, y todo el mundo está haciendo un resumen de cómo ha ido el año. Yo quiero hacer lo mismo, pero de una manera distinta. Quiero resumir la historia de cómo empezó Fairy Cakes de Virginia y de dónde estamos en este momento.

Es bastante probable que jamás me hubiera lanzado a poner en marcha este proyecto si hubiera tenido trabajo. Dejé mi trabajo porque íbamos a trasladarnos a París, y finalmente esto no fue así. Cuando me di cuenta que debía volver a trabajar, empecé a plantearme qué podía hacer que me permitiera cuidar de mi hija y poder dedicarle tiempo por las tardes. Tengo que mencionar aquí el blog Glorious Treats, que fue el que me inspiró. Vi lo que Glory hacía y pensé - Yo quiero hacer lo mismo- Me gusta la repostería, la fotografía, y por encima de todo, mi familia. Es bastante probable que jamás hubiera tenido coraje para poner esto en marcha si hubiera continuado trabajando en la oficina.

Glory fue mi fuente de inspiración (todavía no lo sabe) y después empecé a trabajar en mi nuevo proyecto. Compré un montón de libros en Amazon. Trabajar desde casa, recetas de cupcakes, decoración de galletas, cupcakes y pasteles, y lo más importante, empecé a dar clases con los mejores. Di clases con Patricia Arribálzaga de Cakes Haute Couture, Squires Kitchen and Fair Cupcake, ambas en el Reino Unido, Djalma Reinaldo, La Sorpresa de Clara, Wilton School...y aquí estamos ahora!

Todavía queda mucho camino por recorrer. Cuando veo en Flickr las creaciones de Sugarbelle, de Glory Albin, de Cookie Crazie y de tantas otras, me doy cuenta de que tengo que segur trabajando muy duro para conseguir creaciones tan maravillosas, pero...estoy en ello. Y aunque todavía estoy lejos, no lo estoy tanto como en marzo de 2010, cuando empezó todo esto. 

Mi propósito para este año es continuar trabajando muy duro, para que Fairy Cakes de Virginia siga adelante y siga creciendo.
 ¡Gracias a todos! A los que me inspiraron, a los que me han enseñado, a los proveedores de material. Muchas, muchas gracias a mis clientes, que continúan haciéndome pedidos. Mi agradecimiento más especial va dedicado a mi familia que ha estado ahí apoyándome desde el principio, y que también ha estado ahí siempre que he necesitado ayuda. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS!

I was checking some blogs I follow, and everybody was kind of sumarizing what they had done during this year. I want to do the same, but in a different way. I´m going to do a summary of how everything started at Fairy Cakes de Virginia, and where we are so far.

Most probably I would have never embarked this project had I been employed. I resigned because we were moving to Paris, and this project was a failure in the end. Once I realised I had to go back to work, I started thinking if I could do something that would allow me to look after my daughter and spend some time with her. I must mention here that I´m a follower of Glorious Treats blog and this is where my inspiration came from. I saw what she was doing and I thougt - Yes! That´s what I want to do! - I love baking, I love photography, and most of all, I love my family. Most probably I would have never had the courage to start this project if I would have been working in the office. So I´m so glad I gave up! And I´m so glad our project in Paris did not work out!

Glory was my inspiration (she does not know it yet), and afterwards I started working on my new project. I bought loads of books from Amazon. Setting up a business from home, cupcakes recipes, cookies, cupcakes and cakes decoration, and most important of all, I started learning from the best. I took different classes with Patricia Arribalzaga from Cakes Haute Couture, Squires Kitchen and Fair Cupcake, both in UK, Djalma Reinaldo, La Sorpresa de Clara, Wilton School.... and here we are today!

There´s still a good way to go. Whenever I go through Flickr and I see Sugarbelle´s creations or Glory Albin´s or Cookie Crazie´s and many, many more,  I know I still need to work very hard to come up with such beautiful crations but....I´m working o it, and even though I´m still very far, I´m not so far as I was in March last year, when all this started.

My new year resolution is to keep on working hard to keep Fairy Cakes de Virginia moving. Thank you all, those who inspired me, those who trained me, those who supply the things I need. A very special thanks to my customers who keep on making orders, and most of all to my family who have supported me from the very beginning, and who are always there to give me a hand whenever I need it.  THANKS SO MUCH!!!
